Kara Haygarth is an artist and designer originally from Corvallis, Oregon. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Parsons School of Design and worked as a fashion designer for the following twelve years while living in New York, and briefly Ohio. She relocated to the beautiful mountain town of Bozeman, Montana in 2019 where she began re-exploring and cultivating her passion for painting, illustration and surface pattern design.

 

Kara's illustrative style is charming and joyful with and underlying sense of whimsical curiosity. Her favorite artists include David Hockney, Hilma af Klint, Frida Kahlo and those unnamed creators traditional American Folk Art. Compositionally, her subject matter often draws from the flora, fauna and landscape of her Montana home. Through the use of gouache and digital media, her work celebrates themes of renewal, intuition and connection to nature.
